RE: Cast Iron Cleaning

what type of oil do you use to coat it with. are some not as good as others and do they go rancid. Thank you all for your help
Use Canola oil. I have used vegetable oil for years but a friend of mine recently convinced me that Canola oil works better than vegetable oil.
Neither one of these will go rancid.

RE: ATV & Lake Murray OK

We rode at Lake Murrey a couple of years ago. The ATV area is not at the main State Park area, it is on the North side of the lake. I believe like the State Park, campsites are first-come-first-served. There are camp sites with full hookups. You can ride your ATV from the campsites to the riding area. I believe their WEB site says there is 1000 acres of riding area. It costs us $7 a day (24 hr.)per person to ride. There are lots of trails, mud holes, hills, swampy areas. We had a blast, especially on the night rides.
Here is a link with directions to the Pear Orchard Motorcycle Use Area, as it is called.

On my 06 FS2300 the outside speaker wires were just laying loose behind the head unit, I had to hook them up.

Has anyone found out yet what they are supposed to fix or add?
If it is something simple I will do it myself and bill WW.

RE: Campchef Weekender Stove

I have used that same stove for 5 years and love it. I have had no problems with the legs being wobblie. I don't have the BBQ accessory, if I am going to BBQ I cook in a fire pit or on my Dutch oven table.
You can also use it without the legs. Sometimes I just set the stove on the end of a picnic table. The only complaint I have ever had with it is it is hard to get a real low flame without it blowing out.
With 30,000 BTU per burner you can deep fry fish in a large fish pot or fry eggs in an iron skillet. I will never own another Coleman stove.

If I wanted to wash dishes I could stay home and do that. :B
Washing dishes would cut into my fishing and hunting time.

What happened to compartmented plates?

Has anyone else noticed that all the paper and plastic plate manufacturers have stopped making compartmented plates? For breakfast a single compartment plate is fine, I don't mind getting gravy on my scrambled eggs but at dinner I don't want bean juice turning the breading on my fried fish into mush, I don't want salad dressing on my steak.
Is this just a local thing here in Texas or have you noticed the disappearance of compartmented plates in your area? Is this another one of these things that I am going to have to find on the Internet and buy in bulk because some marketing genius decided compartmented plates were no longer wanted by the general public?
I guess you can tell this ticks me off! What are they going to cut back on next, plastic cups are already so thin they nearly collapse when you pick one up that is full. Next will they start making plastic forks with only 2 tines instead of 4, ziplock baggies as thin as Saran Wrap?

RE: WW recall notice for exterior lighting?

I got the letter yesterday. Anyone know what it is that the trailer is lacking? If it is an easy fix I would prefer to do it myself and bill WW for it rather than have to leave my TH with my dealer for who knows how long, especially since I don't like/trust my dealers service department.

RE: Best Knife Sharpener

I have used the Lansky for many years and it does a great job on most stiff bladed knives but I could never get a good edge on a flexable bladed knife like a fish fillet knife until I purchased the WartHog at a gun show a few years ago. If my pocket knife or hunting knife is real dull I will sharpen it on the Lansky, if it just need a quick edge I use the WartHog.

RE: Lost my corned beef hash breakfast recipe

RVRoadWarrior, thanks. Boy do I feel stupid, :S I had a reply on that thread and didn't remember it. When I did the search I used the word "corned" not "corn" so I guess that is why I didn't find the thread.

RE: What kind of truck

I pulled a 23' Weekend Warrior with an 04 Titan for a couple of years but it was a chore for the Titan. Last July I bought a Chevy 2500 Duramax and it don't even know the Warrior is back there.

RE: Propane Tank Valve

Sometimes the inline requlator can freeze up if condensation builds up, especially in cold weather. I had the regulator for my CampChef stove do this on an early spring trip. We warmed the regulator up then wrapped it in a sock to keep the consensation off and didn't have anymore problems the rest of the trip. Those regulators can sometimes just go South on you and need to be replaced.
Just a couple of ideas.

RE: Todays Trucks (long post)

Jason, that has to be the best RANT I ever read on this forum. I think you hit the situation right on the head. You shound like a man after my own heart, I will take function over form every time. I have owned trucks for the last 30 years and just bought my first diesel last year. Your summation explains why the 4x4 I bought had no skid plates (you don't need them if you never get your 4X4 off the pavement), why I couldn't put larger wheels and larger E-rated tires on my new truck because the wheel wells are designed for 245/75R16 street tires (you don't need bigger tires and wheels if you never get your 4X4 off the pavement).
I bought the truck to pull my toyhauler to my West Texas hunting lease and needed the 4X4 option to traverse the rugged terrain on my lease.
I am saving money right now so I can put real bumpers on my HEAVY DUTY??? truck (PLASTIC BUMPERS :S).
One good RANT desreves another!!! :W

You didn't say what size Dutch oven or what temperature you use to cook this dish. Sounds great and I will have to try it on our next trip, in a couple of weeks.

RE: Silverado 2500 HD trailer charging system

On my 07.5 Silverado 2500 DMax the fuse was there but the wire under the hood that feeds the 7-pin was rolled up and taped to a bundle of wires below the fuse box and near the firewall. I had to connect this wire to a post on the front of the fuse box to make the 7-pin hot. I have no idea why GM would not connect the wire from the factory and leave the fuse out.
I found out about the wire not being connected by doing a search on
dieselplace.com.

RE: Getting a Silverado To Charge a TT Battery

I have an 07.5 Silverado 2500 DMax and the fuse was already in the fuse block but the wire feeding the constant 12v to the 7-pin plug was not connected to the front of the fulse block. The wire was rolled up and taped to a wire cluster under the fuse block near the fire wall. It has a large flat spade on the end of the wire and should be connected to an empty post on the front of the fuse box. I don't know why GM does not go ahead and connect the wire on a truck with the tow package.
